Parenting with PRISM™

To Understand the “WHY” Behind Challenging Behaviors

Over the four weeks of this workshop parents and caregivers will gain a deeper understanding of their child’s behaviors by strengthening their “detective skills.” Together, we will reflect on the “why” behind the behavior to uncover the underlying needs.  This group fosters a supportive network to reflect, ask questions, share concerns, and learn from one another while building practical strategies and deeper understanding.

How each week works:

Each session builds on the previous session with a mixture of lecture, interactive activities and reflective learning. The first three sessions cover our three pillars of PRISM Parenting: Regulation, Sensory Processing and Relationship.

The last session brings it all together during our "Unpacking the 'Why' activity. The goal of the workshop is for parents and caregivers to leave with better insight into what their children may be communicating with their behavior and how to better support them in their tough moments.

Melanie Salort, OTR/L IMH-E

Melanie Salort has been practicing as an occupational therapist for over 20 years and is passionate about working with children and their families. With advanced training in sensory integrative processing and early relational health, she has rooted her work in combining science, curiosity, and compassion to better understand behavior, regulation, and relationships.

Melanie believes that meaningful progress happens through partnership and places parents and caregivers at the center of the therapeutic process. This belief led to the co-creation of Parenting with PRISM with her colleague, Erin. Together, they created an opportunity to empower parents and caregivers with the understanding and tools they need to create lasting change.
